Two computer systems become one.

The ATO have had two accounting systems, one for Activity Statements and one for Income Tax.

The plan is that over December they two will become one.

This system change and upgrade will allow greater visibility, effective processing and better administration of the tax system.

In theory this all happens in the back end of the ATO computers and all we will see is improvement.  It may just take some time.

ATO has advised;

"The ATO has recommenced plans for major system changes to move all activity statement account management (including penalties and interest) into one system – Integrated Core Processing (ICP). This will be known as the Activity Statement Financial Processing (ASFP) project.

"The ASFP release is a required step towards the next iteration in technology for the ATO. The modernisation of infrastructure will provide the foundation for the future contemporary client experience.

"For tax practitioners and their clients, the release will provide a consolidated and enhanced view of Activity Statement and Director Penalty accounts and transactions via ATO online services"
