ICB has the extreme pleasure of awarding Mr John Birse with Life membership of ICB in March 2020.
John has served as a founder of ICB Australia, a director 2006 to 2020, awarded Fellow Membership in 2012 and has been instrumental to the existence and success of ICB.
John continues to challenge the boundaries that are sometimes put around Bookkeepers. First as a secondary school teacher of commerce, then the development of a computerised accounting package for all Victorian Schools, establishing the Jims Bookkeeping in 2000 (until 2018), involved in the Expert Working Group of the National Skills Council (IBSA) which developed the Certificate IV Accounting and Bookkeeping. A member of the consultative forum to the ATO – BAS Agents Advisory Group. A registered BAS Agent since inception in 2010.
Continuing his services to the bookkeeping community through his business Task Force Training, providing coaching to bookkeepers. A QBO Online ProAdvisor and more recently taking up a role with the Wirrimanu Community Store Aboriginal Corporation (taking current technology and techniques into the Aboriginal Community).
Known for his care, his mentoring, his training his writing. John has always been on the cutting edge of new technology, investigating and assessing new products and new solutions to ensure business is using the most effective tools available.
John has run many bookkeeper support models in his time with Jims but also as an ICB Network Facilitator.
ICB has benefitted greatly from the experience, wisdom and leadership from John.
