New Appointment
The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers is delighted to announce the launch of its organisation in Australia as part of the ICB Global network. The Institute was founded in the UK and today promotes professional bookkeeping across the world through the establishment of a series of qualifications that lead to professional membership. It is the world's largest independent bookkeeping organisation, with more than 150,000 students and members in more than twenty countries.
Chief Executive of ICB Global and chairman of ICB Australia, Garry Carter, says that Australian bookkeepers now have an organisation dedicated to supporting them in their profession and to promoting the professional standards that businesses need to ensure that their books are kept in good order. "The Institute has established a world-wide reputation for excellence in this old and very necessary profession. Bookkeepers the world over now have an organisation that represents their needs and aspirations, that supports them throughout their career and which recognises the vital role that they play in successful business. We are absolutely delighted to have a presence in Australia and it is now our aim to work with the ATO and existing bookkeeping groups to ensure that the profession has a set of standards that are relevant to the needs of businesses in Australia. The Institute's head office is situated in Melbourne but we are establishing regional offices in each state across the country. Our vision is 'local focus, national accreditation, global recognition'. Our offices have already been inundated with people wanting to become part of this exciting new movement and we look forward to working very closely with our members and students"
The Institute has announced the appointment of Matthew Addison as executive director for Australia. Matthew is a well known accountant, bookkeeper and business advisor who has a vast experience of providing bookkeeping services to the businesses of Australia. Commenting on Matthew's appointment, Garry Carter said, "Matthew is ideal for this key role. He knows the market well and has for a long time known the need for a professional body to properly represent bookkeepers in Australia. Too many organisations do not provide the strong support for their members that have become the backbone of what this Institute is all about. We want every member to feel important and to be part of what we are doing. By being the best organisation, we can attract only the best bookkeepers. Membership of the Institute really means something and adds value to the service that the members provide".
