TAX AGENT SERVICES BILL sent to Senate Committee
On Wednesday 26 November, the Tax Agent Services Bill was sent to the Senate Economics Committee who have been scheduled to report back by 12 February 2009. The terms of reference to the committee is only to ensure that all stakeholders effected by the bill have been heard. This means that this committee will conduct some further form of public access for input and report back to the Parliamentary process in February 2009.
As details of this public access become known, ICB will be making representation but, also make you aware of the process and progress for any submission.
As an aside, we have been provided information that indicates the Transitional Bill and the Regulations will be made available sooner (possibly even before Christmas) rather than later (my fear of late 2009). This will allow further review and assessment of the impact and process for members to enter the new regime.
