Agenda includes

Observations and learnings about what is happening to our bookkeeping world
The environment for providing bookkeeping services is forever changing. Who would have thought that the simple recording of how much money came in and how much money went out could evolve way past issues of reporting where the money came from and where it went to. Now our environment has to consider how we receive the information, how best we could be paying and receiving money and the details attached to each transaction. We will consider what alternatives to our bookkeeping services, our clients are being sold; offshoring, remote access, inhouse contractors, virtual assistant.

Awareness of how we might transform our existing bookkeeping services

  • We will look at what technology changes to banking, information, processing is available.
  • Positioning this session in a context of sustainable existence and sustainable transformation.
  • The ins and outs of Bank feeds, autocoding, lodging efficiently
  • Risks if we do transform and risks if we don't

Answering questions about:

  • What should we be charging our clients?
  • What are others charging?
  • How to efficiently lodge BAS's, end of year payroll info?

Are you a Contractor or an employee?

  • How do you prove you are not an employee of your clients?
  • What advice can we, should we, give our clients/employers about their employment/contractor arrangements?
  • How do we work with accountants now?

Best Bookkeeping Practice: Brought to you by ICB bookkeepers in practice

  • How does Payroll tax apply - a workable solution
  • Working with the subcontractor issues

How to use contractor/employee bookkeepers but stop them stealing your client(s)

  • how to prevent it / be aware of it
  • contracts / relationship building with bookkeeper / relationship with client(s)
  • putting bookkeepers onsite

How are we allowed to deal with our clients? (given the activity of the TPB and the ATO upon agents)

  • The courts have made some comment about reasonable care, which is a feature of our new code of conduct - what does it mean?
  • What areas of advice can we and cannot we give to clients as bookkeepers or as BAS Agents and how?
  • Can we only do specific work for a client and not do other work that the law seems to require us to do?
  • How do we deal with the client who only wants to pay an amount that is far less than what they need?

Continuing Education

  • ICB has a requirement, professionalism has an expectation, the TPB have started forming a requirement.
  • What is reasonable for us to do and how to do it and how to prove it?
  • The ICB solutions to ensuring you are up to date.
