The Bookkeeping Institute of Australia developed the first ever training course for the Certificate IV Bookkeeping qualification and was the first training institute in Australia to deliver the qualification in October 2007. The course has already been has been proven in the field with over 1,000 students undertaking the BIA Certificate courses. The course is being continually improved and is now in its third development stage. BIA's centerlink provider number is 4P774.

    FNS40210 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping — for experienced bookkeepers

This course has been specially designed for experienced bookkeepers and BAS Agents requiring the qualification for re-registration.     FNSBKPG404A: Carry out Business Activity and Instalment Activity Statement tasks — for qualified bookkeepers and accountants
This is the unit required by the Tax Practitioners Board as a "Course in basic GST/BAS taxation principles that is approved by the Board" if you do not hold a FNS40207 Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) and wish to register as a BAS Agent. Section 9 of the latest Exposure Draft reads "the board, in respect to applications for registration made after 1 October, 2010, will not approve that course where the assessment of the course has been effected solely through recognition of prior learning (RPL) without some form of independent formal assessment testing having been conducted." BIA does not conduct this course by RPL and it is fully assessed. All ICB members and student members receive an additional 15% discount.

    BI-670 BIA Certificate of Bookkeeping using MYOB — NON-accredited course for people working with accounts

This 7 day non-accredited course has been designed to introduce the theory and practice of basic accounting and bookkeeping as well as a good understanding of MYOB. The course introduces participants to the various source documents and journals required to establish a computerised set of accounts for a small to medium sized business. This course is excellent for people with little or no accounting experience. All ICB members and student members receive an additional 15% discount.
