Guest Speaker : Presentation about The Portable Long Service Leave Scheme.
The aim is to improve interaction with industry stakeholders and we value the contribution bookkeepers have in informing their clients about the scheme.
In brief, employees performing building, electrical or metal trades work predominantly on site are entitled to portable long service leave. This means they don't have to work with the same employer for 10 years to be eligible for long service leave. Employers of eligible workers are required to register with Portable Long Service Leave, lodge Employer Returns every 2 months and pay a levy based on 2.15% of remuneration (excluding apprentices who accrue service days at no cost to their employer). Portable Long Service Leave keep a record of employee's service and pay them direct when they become entitled to long service leave at no further cost to employers.
