Minimum wage increases by 2.9%

Fair Work Australia announced the 2012 Annual Wage Decision.

The decision increases minimum weekly wages by 2.9%. This also applies to minimum wages for juniors, trainees and apprentices, employees with a disability and to piece rates.

The new national minimum wage will be $606.40 per week or $15.96 per hour.

We’ll let you know when and where you can access up to date information about your new wages. We’re updating all relevant web content, pay tools, pay and conditions guides and fact sheets. We’re also putting together more information to help you understand how the changes to the minimum wage affect you.

Read the full decision.

What do you need to do now?
The increase to the minimum wages doesn’t take effect until the first pay period on or after 1 July 2012. Once the information about your minimum entitlements and obligations has been updated, we’ll let you know.
