or not.........
TPB chairman says you have to 29 February to renew
Although the renewal submission deadline of 30 January 2012 has now passed for all those Transitional BAS Agents whose registration expires on 29 Feb 2011, the Chair of the TPB has just released a new message:
http://www.tpb.gov.au/TPB/board/Messages_from_the_Chair/TPB/TheBoard/30_January_2012_Message_from_the_Chair.aspx
This fundamentally requests that anyone not having yet submitted their renewal to do so please before the 29 February if they are going to continue legally providing BAS services.
ICB believe this to mean that; Agents whose registration is due to expire on or about 29 February, 2012 and by law had to submit their renewal 30 days before expiry in order for their registration to automatically renew, may now lodge their renewal up to 29 February and the Board will use their discretion to consider that you are still registered unless you are advised otherwise.
The alternative (a strict application of the law) would create a situation where Agents who renew less than 30 days in advance of their expiry, MUST stop acting as a BAS Agent until the board re-registers them.
ICB welcome what appears to be the Boards wise use of their discretion in this instance.
