What is relevant experience - what will the board accept?
The current form has a "supervising" tax agent attesting to your experience including the number of BAS's and the portion of your time dealing with the different BAS Provisions. It states on the TPB website that you are NOT required to have a tax agent sign that form - You may sign it your self.
However The Board has indicated;
- you will need to provide "independent verification" of your relevant experience (we are not happy with this and are making submissions about this)
- current form requires information on the number of hours per week you work, the number of activity statements and the BAS Provision areas that you work.
Watch our website as we seek to provide additional guidance and examples on what information you could provide to the board that we understand will assist them to properly evaluate your renewal eligibility.

Renewing your registration
Any experience you have gained since your initial registration may count towards your relevant experience when you apply for renewal of your registration. The experience gained must have included a substantial involvement in one or more types of BAS services described in the TASA.
You need to provide a Statement of Relevant Experience form which you may complete and sign yourself. If you gained registration by notifying the Board, we suggest that you also provide independent verification of your relevant experience. This will assist us in processing your application.
In most other circumstances you will not need independent verification of your experience. If you also wish to provide evidence of experience you gained before you obtained registration as a BAS agent, you need to provide a Statement, completed and signed by your supervising registered tax agent or BAS agent.
