From the ATO

If your screen turns grey while loading, you will need to shut down your computer completely to allow your software to update. Then log back in and try again.

Alternatively, if the problem persists:

• ATO digital certificate holders – install the latest version of common-use signing interface (CSI) from http://www.csi.business.gov.au  
• AUSkey holders – install the latest version of the AUSkey software from https://www.auskey.abr.gov.au/install.aspx?pid=71

Then close down your browser and try again.
